On Lenten Meditations

The season of Lent is a naturally reflective time. It seemed natural to me to pursue a  body of work as a exploration on meditation itself. In an effort to hone my studio practice, I set specific restraints on my production in order to provide renewed focus. The format needed to be intimate. By working on in a consistent size and shape, I simplified my approach and set out to to pursue devotional exercise that could lead to closer study of my palette and rhythmic inspirations. The focus was not the specific creation of a body for work, but rather an attempt to fully embrace process, and to enjoy the moment of the creative act itself. The resulting works, all 12″ x 12″ were not conceived as a whole but rather as individual musings.
