Tradition, Iconography and the Art of Icon Writing

Archangel Michael
Since the early 11th century, icons have graced the walls of homes
and churches in Ukraine. In this illustrated lecture and demonstration,
contemporary iconographer Christina Saj will trace the evolution of
Ukrainian Icon writing, discuss the influence on tradition and culture
and walk thru the stages of creating an icon.
Saj studied icon writing with Ukrainian Icon Master Petro Cholodny, the Younger.
Her traditional works and contemporary interpretations have been commissioned for churches and are widely exhibited.
